Nurturing children’s health and well-being.

The Georgia Pediatric Program (GAPP) is a Medicaid-funded initiative that provides no-cost in-home nursing care to medically fragile children who require skilled support. This program is designed to ease the burden on families by offering critical care services within the comfort of home.

In-Home Nursing Care for Medically Fragile Children

GAPP serves children under the age of 21 who require personal nursing care and are currently receiving physician-prescribed medical services.
This program ensures that children with complex medical needs receive high-quality care without the disruption of institutional settings.

Coverage Through Medicaid and Katie Beckett

GAPP services are fully covered under Medicaid and the Katie Beckett Waiver, meaning families do not incur any out-of-pocket costs. The Katie Beckett Waiver allows children to qualify for Medicaid based on their medical needs alone, regardless of parental income.

Eligibility Requirements for GAPP

To qualify for the GAPP program, the following criteria must be met:

  • The child must be under 21 years of age
  • The family must meet general Medicaid eligibility requirements
  • The child must be receiving physician-ordered medical services

GAPP Services Include:

  • Assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Bathing and personal hygiene support
  • Meal assistance and nutritional support
  • Light housekeeping related to patient care
  • Monitoring of vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature)
  • Help with mobility, ambulation, and transfers
  • IV therapy administration
  • Wound care management
  • Tube feeding and gastrointestinal disorder support
