Community Living Support (CLS)

Community Living Support (CLS) helps individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities receive the support they need to live at home, participate in their community, and build greater independence.

Through Georgia’s New Options Waiver (NOW) and Comprehensive Supports Waiver Program (COMP), eligible members may receive home and community-based services that support daily living, community involvement, and personal goals. These waiver programs are administered by Georgia Medicaid and operated day-to-day through the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, DBHDD.

CLS Services May Include

Services are based on the member’s approved needs and Individual Service Plan (ISP). Supports may include:

• Assistance with activities of daily living
• Personal care and hygiene support
• Meal preparation and nutrition support
• Communication skill-building
• Community participation and inclusion
• Self-medication support, as permitted by the care plan
• Money management skill support
• Household routines and safety skills
• Social, behavioral, and adaptive skill support
• Support with personal goals and independence
• Documentation and coordination with the support team

Who May Qualify

Community Living Support may be available to individuals approved for Georgia’s NOW or COMP Waiver. These waivers support people with intellectual or developmental disabilities and help them remain in their family home, own home, or community setting instead of institutional care.
